July 13 Romance ratings
Sweet, sensual, hot, spice, what rating(s) do you prefer, and why?
Do you prefer love behind closed doors, or more graphic love scenes. And how about erotic romance?

I love graphic love scenes, ergo, I love erotic romance! That said, it has to have a reasonable story line with the love scenes an intrinsic part of the story, not just something thrown in just for the sex!

I have to go with sweet/sensual scenes~ It is not really my thing to read nitty gritty love scenes. I like to use my imagination. Thanks, Cindi

I'm ambivalent, while I enjoy erotic scenes, as long as they add to and are relevant the story, I have to say there are times the eye just skips over them. More so lately, not because they're badly written per se, but well, there's only so many ways you can write it. So repetition creeps in and my mind says, yeah they're having sex , big deal get on with the story. So sometimes less is more. Plus sometimes I feel there's an unofficial competition going on with erotic writers--who can write the longest description of a half hour scene?

I love both erotic and sensual. I'm not against behind closed doors, but I want to know what the characters are thinking when they are together. When a love scene is written well, it just falls into place. I don't want a sex scene just because it's page 45 already, or because you need a certain number.

I read just about everything, but I prefer a sweet and sensual mix. I like reading sex scenes as long as they are not overwhelmingly graphic.

I like both. It depends on my mood. Sometimes I want erotic and sometimes I want tender.

I read all genres, but have to say that I read more of the erotic romance than anything else-why? Well, for me there are 2 kinds of erotica;1)the stories where the people are falling madly in love ,but are weres, shifters, etc. so the sex is much more graphic but still in a loving or relationship format,or 2) a person is exploring their sexuality and the emotions are involved, but not in a relationship style so much as a learning format.
They are however at least friends with or known to the other person.
I still like the anticipation or buildup to intimacy in a book and don't care for having people jump into bed together by page 2,but don't want them to drag it out to the last 3 pages either.

I purchase a book for the story-if it has sex scenes steamy or otherwise, that's a plus

I like reading graphic love scenes ranging from sensual to hot. I do enjoy erotic romance, too. It's important for the love story to be believable. It gets boring if the characters just have sex.

I love to read all types of romance. It depends on the mood I am in at the time.

I really like them all. A lot does depend on the mood, but I can read anywhere from graphic to sugar sweet. It's all good!

I love all types of romance, I guess it just depends on my mood when I'm reading the book. But I will admit that I like erotic/grpahic love scenes most often. It adds to the element of the romance book I think because some men have a hard time showing they love someone outside of those graphic scenes. Especially the bad boys in books who have to act tough and rugged outside the bedroom.

Great answers all the way around, Ladies. I have to pretty much agree. I like everything--as long as it's well written. It really is about the story.

A bit of all of them...a good romance makes all of it work...love the graphic, the behind the scenes...and more to be imagined...

Hi Tarah, I like them all too. For me it depends on the story and characters as to which scenes and ratings work well.
