Tell the truth, just how much do book reviews influence your reading? Are there particular reviewers you trust? How do you go about choosing new authors?

I have to say I'm not really one for reviews. I go mostly on the book blurb. If it attracts me and I know the author's writing I'll buy the book. If I don't know the author, I'll consider whether I think the publishers have a good track record, read excerpts, see if it's being mentioned on any groups. But it's mainly the blurb -- if that sucks me in I'll take a chance on an author I don't know. Only if I'm ambivalent about a book will I start looking at reviews, because I've seen too many where I'm left wondering if we've even read the same book. I'm more likely to look at a review with regard to the content of a book than how good it is. Reply to this

I do read reviews, but they don't hold much weight in my decision to read a book or not. I read reviews because they give more info and insight about a book. I read the reviews on Amazon. Reply to this

I rely alot on reviews I get from various online reader sources. I read new authors if rhe storyline is one I want to read. And I have been introduced to alot of authors through author contests. In fact, I just won a book by an author I had not read and now I have added her name to my list for when I go to the bookstore Reply to this

It depends on what the book reviewer says! Maybe, their taste is different from mine. Something my bother them about an author's writing, that doesn't bother me. Sometimes, I read Amazon.com reviews and other times J.Kaye Older's. Mostly I go on my own intuition. Thanks, Cindi Reply to this
