Hello! I think for the most part that romantic heroes are portrayed realistically. I like men to betray the time period that the book is written in. Sometimes; though, a hero is someone special and can deviate from the norm. Thanks, Cindi

I think romance heroes are generally portrayed realistically. These heroes sometimes do some extraordinary things, but I think their demeanor and personalities are true to life.

If they were portrayed realistically, what would the point of the story be? The hero is supposed to be called into action out of his familiar life. He's realistic in his familiar life. So, I say no... Or do all my heroes have invisible capes? You know, the work I read is about paranormal folk these days. So, don't listen to moi. I say let's go shopping and eat desserts all day too!

ROFL!! But then we'd worry about getting fat! Oh, wait, if those unrealistic heroes are keeping us busy on the side, we're working off all those extra calories. Ok, I can get behind that.

I think that some are realistic and some are not. It is after all fiction and some of the situations are unrealistic. I want to be entertained and so do not care if they are realistic or not.

I kind of feel that most of the characters in most genres of fiction (including mainstream) aren't very realistic. Most of the time the heroes and heroines are smarter, stronger, and better looking than most of the planet really is. I don't necessarily mind (although couldn't we have more heroines who aren't a size two?), but I'm really kind of tired of the Alpha male hero. I'd like to see some more brainy types: a hot archaeologist, a gorgeous English professor, or a sexy computer nerd would be great!

I don't want my heroes realistic, I want to be swept away! I have enough of realistic, everyday life at home!

Amen, Eva! That's my motto when sketching out a hero... Muscles. A bit o' sweat. Don't forget the kilt. Must have a sword. And he can THINK. I can't stand a guy who never thinks. Come on. Surely they're wondering what's for dinner, dessert, etc. Who said guys don't think? Geesh.

Although I don't think they are totally realistic, I think they are more realistic than they used to be

I am with Estella. I don't care if they are not realistic either. Reading is an escape for me. If you wnat to be realistic than read non-fiction or turn on the news.
