September 3
It's Wednesday, September 3rd, and my daughter is off for her first day of school. I slept through the first five minutes of both my alarms! ROFL. I would have given myself a swift kick in the pants if I had to drive my daughter to school because I missed the bus--and she, the ten year old who thinks she's twenty-five--would never have let me forget it. I would say maybe life will get back to normal, but that's just something I'd be telling myself--it just won't happen!
So, how is everyone doing after the last holiday of summer?
So, how is everyone doing after the last holiday of summer?

I swung by Melissa's Examiner page today. One of her newest articles is,
An EVP To Chill Your Soul
EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) Soundwave. Have you ever listened to an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena)?
I can't listen to this one! Hearing ghostly voices on tape freaks me out. Shiver.
How about this one
House Hunting? Signs That A House May Be Haunted.
Number two is: You notice cold spots throughout the home that has nothing to do with the air conditioning.
And here I thought it was just poor circulation in my limbs!
Has anyone ever experiences any of these phenomena?

I enjoyed Magnetic Cows. But I lived on a farm with 40 cows when I was 8. And I have a degree in geology. So, put two and two together, and I'm not suprised! Now if only cows would figure out how to read electric fences before being shocked into understanding not to touch them...
Now, what do you call it when you're a child and hear voices or pots and pans banging at night, then see faces looking out of every corner in your room? But it ends after a certain point you reach in your childhood. A good imagination? Skhye

ROFL!!! (I'm not saying a word.)

Yeah, and I know why. Because you knew I was going to tell Skhye the same thing I told you, right? LOL

Thanks about the cow article! I grew up on a farm too with cows and horses and I wasn't surprised when I heard about it either. LOL about the fences. I know exactly what you mean - and it applies to people too. When we were boarding one of our horses for a short time the place was hot wired to keep the horses off the fencing. I told members of my family over and over and over again - that will shock you bad so don't touch it. Don't you know that out of about ten people that went over there I was the only one who didn't get shocked? LOL
You call that closing yourself off to your own clairvoyant and mediumistic abilities because of fear. You did this subconsciously because you saw a spirit of someone who had recently died in your family and it freaked you out so bad that you shut yourself down. So, it's not your imagination but that point in your childhood is when you were frightened and closed the doorway yourself. If you ever wanted to reopen yourself to those abilities you could definately do that. You're a strong clairvoyant and a strong medium but you have to be ready if you open that door because this time, you won't be able to close it again so easily.
I hope this helps.

I thought that's the answer I'd get. ROFL. So, if one of my characters suddenly decided in adulthood to reopen this doorway, what would you expect to see in that person's conflict to make the experience real for you as a reader?
As for those hot fences, let me tell you, they are almost impossible to dive between the wires when being chased by a territorial cow!

I'm glad that made sense to you. Yes, that would work in the plot.
LOL yep been there done that too! LOL

Lord, I could see me as one of those people who just didn't get that the fence was electric.

I have experianced several weird things. When I was about 8 or 9 my mom and I were sitting on her bed and it was the middle of the winter. All of a sudden a cold wind came through her room, and ruffled the curtains. It freaked us all out. We had this velvet chair that sat in my parents living room, when night would fall I couldn't look into the room becuase I could always see the outline of a figure sitting in it. Then when my 3rd son was born I was in the hospital and something made me sit up, when I did, I felt this extremely cold spot at the foot of the bed. I assumed, no hoped, it was my grandfather who had passed away seven months before my baby was born. I have heard EVP but only on TV never anywhere else- unfortunately!

Whoa, that EVP was completely freaky! I totally enjoyed the articles, Melissa! Is it possible for a spirit to actually harm someone? I know they can scare the beejeepers out of you, but can they physicaly harm you?
Reply to this
Yeah, it was very freaky. Okay - I'm going to give you my take on this. You'll hear from some people that spirit can harm you and you'll hear from other people that they won't harm you. My belief is that spirit, entities, and even other people on this Earth with us can only do us harm if we ALLOW them to do us harm. Controversial I know but it's what I believe.
Let me elaborate. We have free will and we can make choices that take us out of harm's way if there is a negative spirit around. In the spirit world they are bound by our free will and if we don't want them around we have the power to make them leave. If they don't we can demand it. And if they still don't then you can make the decision to physically leave the experience yourself. But you have to be strong in this and you have to disconnect the spirit from you and don’t “invite” them to move with you. I mean you see it all the time, people become "victimized" by spirit because they are living together in the same house. Well, to be blunt, don't put up with any of their crap. If you can't handle living with Uncle Bob walking up the stairs every night at 9:00 PM then pack your stuff and leave that house and leave his energy behind. I think that a lot of times when spirit follows people to new homes those people have invited them to go with them without realizing it. Some people thrive on spirit "drama". For me, I used to be afraid of spirits that would come around. Now I get pissed off at them if they're a negative energy. I don't want that around me and I don't allow them around me. It's one thing to report about the paranormal as I do at Examiner but it's another thing entirely to live with negative, harmful entities on a daily basis. I choose not to deal with that. Whenever we move, I inspect the potential new home for spirit activity and if there is something there I don’t like we don’t move there.
Now, let me explain something else - there is a difference in a negative entity and a neutral or positive entity. I encounter spirit pretty much on a daily basis but they are all neutral or positive entities - spirit that needs help or wants me to deliver a message for them or they're just passing by and I happen to see them. That I allow because I feel that if I can help then I should. I have had spirit physically touch me in the past and I have experienced negative entities that would do me or someone I loved serious harm. It’s the scariest thing you’ll ever imagine (at least my experience was) but I fought and won. So now, negative entities - those that might do harm - aren't allowed. Period.
So yes, if you allow spirit to affect you negatively they can harm you if you ALLOW it. So, don’t allow it.

Thanks for the explanation of that. I tend to agree with you. I always believed that if a spirit had the power to do things in a positive manner, then why couldn't they do something negative. So, as long as we block out that negativity and demand they stop or leave, we should be OK!
I think I've got it!! Thanks again!!

Hey Tarah! Congrat's on getting your child back in school! I'm still not adjusted and it's been two weeks!
Thanks for posting about my articles! I'm looking forward to hearing what others have to say about these types of phenomena.
Also - I'm launching a new radio show at blog talk radio this morning. I'm co-hosting with my friend Sally Painter and we're going to be talking about all things paranormal and doing free readings. If you'd like to tune in the link is http://blogtalkradio.com/celticseers

We have a lot of the signs of a haunted house, even though we're the only ones who've ever lived here. The cold spots; the feeling of being watched; voices especially. Even the other night, I was in bed and I could have sworn I had saxophone music but there was no TV or radio on. I guess its something you just try to get used to

Ohh,this is interesting. Can't wait to see what Melissa has to say here.

Hi Lis,
When I read this the first thing I sensed is that the house was built over an old graveyard. I sense that these spirits have no ill intent to you or your family - the house just happened to be built over them. You can try telling them that it's bugging you for them to be inside your house and even though you know that it's fun for them to serenade you, could they take it outside? They should if you're sincere in your request. If they don't then you can demand it and they will have to listen. I hope this helps.

Melissa

ugh, Tarah getting the kids off to school is always a joy! All three of my boys started two weeks ago and my oldest has all ready missed his school bus! lol, I'm with you, by the time I am organized and with it, my oldest will be out of school! When my oldest is a senior my youngest will only be in Kindergarten and my middle son in 6th grade! I know, I don't know what I was thinking either!!!! So I feel for you- I truly do!

You feel for me! I feel for you--three boys! Of course, everyone says boys are easier than girls, so my daughter may equal your three boys. ROFL. I think Melissa would disagree--she has three boys too. I can't imagine three kids. (I'm a coward. My daughter was completely unexpected. Anymore surprises like that might have done me in. heh heh.)

Oh yeah, I TOTALLY disagree. My three keep me on my toes, drive me crazy and make me wear more hats that I ever imagined I'd wear.
